Privacy policy
Last updated · Author: Mezeman (mezeman1)
This policy covers Skillmoor on Android (Google Play, package com.mezeman.skillmoor) and this website. Skillmoor has no accounts of its own and never asks for your name, email or contacts. What Google's services receive, and how to stop it, is set out below.
Skillmoor on Android
- Game progress. Your save (skill experience and levels, the items in your bank, upgrades, what each skill is working on, and which purchases you own) is written to the app's own storage on your device. It leaves the device only when you back it up yourself (below).
- Play Games and backups. The game signs in to Google Play Games at launch if you have it set up; signing in is optional and the game is fully playable without it. Google tells the game whether you are signed in and gives it your Play Games player ID; we never receive your email or password. When you press Back up under Menu → Settings, a copy of your save is stored in Google Play Games Saved Games, under your Play Games account, together with the name of the device that made it, so a restore can show which phone a backup came from. Nothing is backed up or restored automatically.
- Ads. The game includes Google AdMob for rewarded video ads: an ad is only ever shown when you press a button that offers a reward for watching one. There are no banners and no ads that interrupt play. The current version offers no such button yet, but the AdMob SDK starts with the game. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it first asks for your consent through Google's consent form, and you can change that choice at any time under Menu → Settings → Privacy options. To serve and measure an ad, AdMob receives the Android advertising ID, your IP address (and the approximate location it implies), device model, operating system, app version, how you interact with the ad, SDK diagnostic information and other device identifiers such as the app set ID where applicable. Google uses this to serve and measure ads, to prevent fraud and, where you allow it, to personalise them.
- Analytics. The game includes Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the game is used and how it performs. It starts only in a release installed from Google Play, and only after Google's consent form has completed with analytics allowed (or not required where you live). When it runs, it reports an app-instance identifier, device model, operating system and app version, approximate country or region, session and in-app events, and automatic in-app purchase events. Advertising-ID collection by Firebase is switched off. Refusing analytics in the consent form keeps it off.
- Purchases. The game offers optional one-time purchases through Google Play Billing in its Shop: permanent boosts such as double xp, double gold and a longer offline window. Google takes the payment and keeps the record of it against your Google account; we never see your card, billing address, name or email. The game asks Google Play which products your account owns and keeps only that yes or no on your device, so a purchase still works offline. A refunded purchase is withdrawn from the game the next time it reaches the store.
- Not collected. No accounts made by us, no payment details, no precise location, no contacts, no camera, no microphone, no access to your files, no messages.
This website
The site itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It is hosted on GitHub Pages behind Cloudflare, which log requests, including your IP address, to deliver and protect the site, under GitHub's and Cloudflare's privacy policies.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data. The services above are run by Google (AdMob, Firebase, Google Play Billing, Google Play Games) and process this data under Google's privacy policy. AdMob may pass ad data to the advertisers bidding to show you an ad; how Google handles it is set out in how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Everything is sent over encrypted connections. We disclose data otherwise only where the law requires it.
Deleting your data
- Your save. Erase it at any time with Menu → Reset → Reset inside the game, by clearing the app's storage in Android Settings, or by uninstalling the app. We hold no copy. Resetting keeps your purchases, which belong to your Google account.
- Play Games backup. Resetting or uninstalling does not delete a backup. Delete it in the Play Games app: Settings → Delete Play Games account & data → Delete individual game data.
- Ads. Change your consent under Menu → Settings → Privacy options, and opt out of ad personalisation or delete your advertising ID under Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Google keeps advertising data under its own retention rules.
- Analytics. Withdrawing analytics in Privacy options stops further collection and resets the app-instance identifier on the device. It does not erase what was already sent. To ask for that to be deleted, email us; we will tell you what we need to find your records, and never ask for your Google password or payment details.
- Purchases. The record of a purchase belongs to your Google account and we cannot delete it. Refunds and history are in your Google Play order history.
To request deletion of any data about you, or to ask what we hold, email [email protected] with the subject "Skillmoor data deletion". No account or password is needed. We answer within one month.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to its processing. Personalised ads and analytics in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland rely on your consent, which you can change in Privacy options. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children's privacy
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child's data reached us, email us and it will be removed.
Changes
When the game starts or stops collecting something, this page changes first and the date at the top moves. The date above is the version in force.
